Our office begins seeing children at a young age to promote a healthy foundation for great dental health right from the start. We also work with parents on techniques and education so that they have the tools to succeed when it comes to oral care for their kids.
A Child’s First Visit
When a child first comes to the dentist, we will help familiarise them with our dental office so they are completely comfortable. We will show them their teeth in the mirror, take them for a ride in the chair, and brush their teeth.
We believe all great dental health begins with an excellent preventive routine. We instruct parents on how to create a successful home care regimen that includes brushing and flossing, as well as avoiding sugary treats and eating a good diet to promote healthy teeth and gums.
Routine examinations and cleaning appointments complement good home care. If necessary, we can also offer additional preventive treatments such as fluoride and sealants to help keep children’s teeth healthy and strong.
Dental sealants are clear coatings applied to a child’s teeth to prevent decay. For children who are at a particularly high risk for decay or who have naturally deep grooves in their teeth, dental sealants help prevent food and bacteria from settling in to those places where normal brushing and flossing cannot reach.
Dental sealants are noninvasive. They can last for up to five years and can be replaced once they wear off.
Almost all children will require some type of dental treatment at some point.
We offer compassionate, gentle care when treating children. It is important it to make sure children are comfortable at the dentist and do not experience dental anxiety. We talk to children in terms they understand, and we explain clearly what they are doing. Good communication ensures that treatment is not scary; consequently, the dental care we provide is more effective
